Our wedding will be held at Mount Juliet Estate in Thomastown, which is located just twenty minutes outside of downtown Kilkenny. Kilkenny is one of Ireland’s most cosmopolitan and medieval cities. For those traveling from the states, we recommend that you fly into Dublin Airport and then travel to Kilkenny by car, bus, or train.
BY CAR
If you are planning an extended stay in Ireland, renting a car is the way to go in terms of flexibility and the ability to see all the beautiful scenery and historic sites that Ireland has to offer. There are many on-site car rental companies that are located within the Arrivals Hall in Terminal 1 and 2 of Dublin airport. The drive takes approximately an hour and thirty minutes.
TIP: Driving in Ireland can be tricky the first time for Americans. Review this guide beforehand to get ready.
BY BUS
If you are heading directly to Kilkenny from the airport, but do not want to rent a car, you can also hire a taxi or purchase bus tickets. JJ Kavanagh operates a bus line that will pick you up from the airport. The ride takes approximately two hours and thirty minutes.
BY TRAIN
If you are planning on staying in downtown Dublin beforehand, there is also a train that goes from Dublin’s Heuston station to Kilkenny’s MacDonagh station.
… OR BY BIKE
